Thanks Halloween Asylum for a great service. They arrived today after our evil customs and excise demanded another £22 to release them for shipping. I'm super pleased with them, when the parcel arrived I was so super excited.

Is it normal to hug your funkins in delight, hmmm maybe I need to get our more

Hahaha!! I think hugging is fine - anything more would be weird.

    Congrats!
    Is it Halloween yet?

I'm tempted with those funkins. Which one[s] did you get? Can you post a picture somehow referencing the size? I just have to be sure of the size. I usually carve a fairly large tall faced pumpkin to fit the designs from the kits. I opt for a larger pumpkin but the mac funkin looks too small-walled and flat.

I'll take some pics this morning and post them in the thread later on. They're a pretty good size too.

    I ordered

    2 of these

Oh I bet you are well pleased with them - they are fabulous things.

Every visit to the states find us buying an extra large suitcase and cramming them with the funkins that Michaels sell. We always get funny looks lugging a massive suitcase that weighs nothing at all!

We have around 20 of them carved and hung in a tree in the front garden and lit with a few glow sticks - works a treat.

Enjoy them! You are bound to be ordering more!

I prefer the ones Michaels sell, I think they're Gemmy, to the Funkins for carving since they're thinner, but I prefer the look & feel of the Funkins, they're just more realistic looking. The paint job is different too. I wish I could mush the 2 together & get the perfect fake-kin.

It's a toss up really. It comes down to price & availability & I can get the Michael's ones a lot easier than the Funkins so I end up with more Gemmy's than Funkins.

Either way, I don't miss real pumpkins at all.

I bought my first one from Michael's yesterday. Does anyone know if you can paint them and what type of paint can I use? Can I use testers model paint on them for say highlighting? How about hot glue to hold things onto them?

I also saw that Michaels will carve your pumpkin if you bring in a stencil they will do a custom job.
