Oct 1 the inside decorations are put up.
Same day I start bringing down props to check them --and continue to bring them out of the attic until about the 15th. 3 Rooms of my house and garage hold the outside stuff until we're ready to start setting up around the 28th or so....big guys go out on Halloween only."Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "for I've often heard it said
They never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed!"

we used to always decorate the first or second week in October... to coincide with our town's Firetruck rides... lately though we've been soo busy building during those weeks that we haven't actually decorated untill Oct. 25-31st (our big stuff comes out for one day)

My sons birthday is the 25th of august so after that we start bringing stuff out and figuring out what will go where. The first week of september things start to go up inside and we usually have inside done about mid september.
The outside stuff goes up October 1st. And then late October we have a Halloween party in our garage. We start setting that up about a week or so before (it's a LOT of work).
Im sure a lot of people think I start too early but that's the way I do it. If you love something enjoy it as long as you can. I do.

Inside, there are Halloween decorations out year-round but it really gets creepy around the end of September.
Outside, I start the second week of October.
But lighting gets changed out October 1st. (green or blue spots in our garage/porch light fixtures). Webbing goes out the first day also so it's nice and yucky by Halloween.
Graveyard fencing and cheapy stones around the second week.
Big stuff doesn't come out until the night of, and then it ALL gets taken in at the end of the night so November 1st it's like it never happened.

I'll have out all my decorations out by the end of this month so I can go through them. I'll start decorating inside right after Labor Day and then do the outside. My goal this year is to be decorated by the end of Sept. I live close to a elementary school(I can see it from my porch). The kids that go by my house to and from school love looking at my display. This year I am trying to go a little bigger then last year!
