For some reason I just don't feel like building anything. I mean I want to build things. I just don't feel inspired I look at all the props others have built and I think wow that really cool maybe Ill something like that. But then that fizzles out within 5 mins. If Halloween was next month I would be putting up the very little. Do I need an intervention medication or something? Does anyone else fell this way?

Summertime blues?

i have been in a winter/spring/summertime coma but have recently been awakened and am ready for all things Ghoulish & Spooky. some things to keep in mind now that August is right around the corner:
1) bad horror movies usually come out in August. like, Final destination 5 and Fright Night will both be out in August.
2) Halloween merchandise is already out at Michael's and they have some Halloween stuff out at Bath and Body Works.
3) soon enough, you will see Halloween isles (CANDY!!!) at Walgreens and other stores.
4) most stores should be pushing the back to school stuff pretty heavy now
these things in August always wake me up and get me going knowing that the best time of year is around the bend!!!

oh yeah, one more thing to keep in mind:
5) august reminds me that Summer is about to get kicked to the curb!!!! Bring on the overcast, changing of the leaves, slightly cooler weather. hell, bring on September!

Well, I do. I have only been haunting my house and yard since 2008. I built alot of props, paper mached alot of pumpkins, etc. I bought tons of glass bottles, masks, costumes, etc.
Now I have enough stuff. (I still desire alot of cool stuff, but have no room and really don't need to spend the money on it. In fact, I am considering having a yard sale to get rid of stuff I don't need anymore.)
I want to decorate with my existing stuff and enjoy Halloween, but I don't really feel like making anything new. I feel like I can happily enjoy Halloween with what I have.
I know of other haunters sitting out a Halloween. They are just not ready for the work that year. It's not a crime! And they are relieved that they can wake up the next day and not have a huge clean up pack up job.
Sometimes I see more simple yards, and feel that they are just as Halloween-ish. You can tell the owner has spirit, but maybe too busy to go all out. Or in this economy, may not be able to afford a huge set up.
Do what you want. I started 2 paper mache pumpkins, and they sit bare on the floor of my kitchen. If I don't finish them, oh well. Halloween still is fun.

You are not alone. I just cannot get myself motivated this year. I don't know if it's the heat or what. I still have the Halloween spirit but that spirit is lazy this year. Quite frankly, it makes me sad because normally I would have tons done by now. But this year all I want to do is watch scary movies, go to haunted houses/corn mazes, carve pumpkins and celebrate Halloween old school style. I have more than enough props to wing it through 1 year. Hell, I have an entire 2700 sq. ft. haunt ready to go. So....I don't know. I just hope my motivation kicks in sooner rather than later. But... I'm still here so that has to be a good sign. right?

I was the supermarket today and they had Halloween candy out right next to the back to school stuff. My wife saw them first and looks at and says " That's it we are not coming back here" Mind you the supermarket just opened like 6 days ago. I just laughed I'm not allowed to say HALLOWEEN till like the middle of August. I usually am obsessed with all things Halloween starting in May. But come the end of August she starts getting in to it.

I think I am just so tired of doing this myself. I mean my wife does the big window and somethings for the inside. I dunno maybe I just need a push (and not off a cliff...yet anyway).

My husband and i have had a few years we just couldnt get going. We have never started till end/august 1st sept anyway. But we went to transworld in march. It was so inspiring. Then we joined a local haunt club, and then attended great lakes fright fest. Now its focusing on what i can do. This forum inspires the heck out of me. Thanks to all who keep hacking and inventing all year long.
