Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone here lives in NC, I ask because I am moving there over the summer, and I would like to know how the Halloween scene there is. Do a lot of people make haunts and dress up? Thanks in advance

I live in NC & love it. There are two pretty large haunts in my area, Spookywoods & Woods of Terror (High Point/Greensboro area). Unfortunately, I don't see a lot of house haunts & it seems like less & less people are decorating their houses & yards for Halloween these days. It's good to hear that someone will be bringing a little more Halloween spirit to NC.

It very much depends on where in NC you will be. Western NC is completely different from the rest of the state. I spent most of my high school and college days in Ashevile and it was iffy there. A lot of the extreme baptists were against halloween for religious reasons and a lot of the extreme pagan-y people (I say this that way because they all used to fight about what their religion actually was) were against it because they said it made fun of what they belived in and no one would take them seriously. So, that time of year was generally a lot of protesting and arguing and in the end the kids either did nothing, went to a church party, or trick-or-treated at the mall. It was sad really. I agree that anyone bringing halloween spirit to the area is a very good thing!

Hi, Nightmare-Dude and welcome to North Carolina (when you get here).
I live in Concord, right outside of Charlotte. I'm about 3 miles from the Speedway.
A lot of houses in my area decorate for Halloween, but not outlandishly like I do. We do get quite a few Trick-or-Treaters---probably around 200 to 225. That number doesn't include the parents and the block wanderers.
But-in the end-I guess it depends on what neighborhood you end up moving to.

    I live in Chapel Hill.
Halloween here means Franklin Street and that means between 35,000 to 80,000 people all walking around in costume or watching the folks walking around in costume! The main street is closed to traffic starting around 8 pm. The past few years the town has tried to significantly decrease the number of people (still hitting around 35K), with limited parking opportunities, primarily due to the cost of the extra police force needed. There is never much violence however, mostly just drunks and fights. Google Chapel Hill halloween Franklin Street and you should be able to pull up some photos of the big parade. Not too sure about Halloween in Charlotte however there is a great costume/prop store there called Morris Costume.
