Thanks, MHooch! I was pretty happy with how they turned out. I can't wait to put webs on and see them in the dark, but I'm making myself wait til a little closer to October to finish those details.
And Stochey, I find myself asking the same things. For each thing I think about buying or making, I think about all of the other things I could do with that money and try to figure out what will make the biggest impact. So far I'm trying to tell myself to limit myself to one "big" prop for the year, and focus the rest of my time and money on less expensive things to set the overall atmosphere. I really need to learn how to make good use of paper mache. I've been using a lot of cardboard to make wall sconces for my candles, too.

I HATE THAT WORD!!! BUDGET!! If I dont find a job soon, there wont be any Halloween for me to buy, do, see, make or whatever.

I found a great way to stay within your Halloween budget....find another hobby that takes up all your spare cash. I started adding up how much I spent on running in the past year. Halloween doesn't look so expensive now

The thing I have found is to build durable props that can be reused year after year. Build it once, build it right. Some things won't last through repeated use, but alot of stuff will. Being able to reuse items year after year frees up more money to spend on new stuff. My FCG is 10 years old, tombstones will be 12 years old, etc. I even have some decorations from 1995!!!

There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?
