Ah well, I think the hayride will have to wait for another year. Neighborhood meeting had busy parents in attendance and their kids' schedules are just too full of parties and sports on Halloween weekend. And the weekend before. So the "harvest" block party is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of the 15th. And may or may not include a hayride. Of course, I'm the only one in the neighborhood who will have decorations up then except maybe an early pumpkin here and there. So a hayride might not be very interesting. I hadn't been thinking only about kids for the Halloween party/hayride event - I'd guess that half the households in the neighborhood are child-free: college students, retired people, young couples, empty-nest middle-aged couples. These amateurs, thinking Halloween is for kids!
