so each year I put on a home haunt still and all the donations goes to CostumesForKids.net.

The "Labyrinth of Darkness" part of my home haunt is getting a full upgrade with the addition of a LED dot room.

    Now here is my question:

    1) Should I have ToTs wear 3D Glasses?

    2) Should I have an actor in there?

    3) I was thinking of making this the final room where you get your candy from someone wearing a dot suit or a clown?

I am also planning on adding Claustrobia to the haunt, but only the mid waist one. Not sure though.

Any thoughts or other ideas would be awesome.

Handing out the 3D glasses can be a pain because you'd have to hand out the glasses and collect them. You could just hand them a pair to look through but don't think they'd think it was as cool. They just may say, "Neat" and that was it. Did a dot room with the costume thing and the parents really got surprised which was neat. I was the one wearing the costume and handed out pixie sticks. Was a hoot. Wouldn't move until I reached forward with the candy. Surprised nearly everyone. I also had a dummy hanging in the same costume right when they entered so it became an excellent decoy and added to the scare.

Personally, don't like the claustrophobia effect. Just sort of aggravates me. Never seen a kids reaction though. Be interested to see if you find success with it.

good point on the glasses. It may be a pain in the but. As for the mid high claust. I am doing with a swamp fog effect usuing froggys fog. So u feel like you are walking waist high in a swamp.

Oh yeah, been through that waist high one display at Scare Products (Transworld). Was a very scary effect. Kept thinking something was going to grab at my ankles. The prob you may have with that is if you have a lot of younger ones because they may not be tall enough. Also, unlike in a pro haunt, they will be wearing costumes and having any kind of claustrophobic effect could wreck havoc on their costumes.

There is a professional haunt less than a mile from my house (lucky me!) that has 7 different attractions at this location. One of them is called 3D Clown Phobia. The entire thing is 3D and lit with blacklights. It's not a typical haunted house since it is actually pretty light in there... but it's my fave.

They have a doorkeeper that lets through groups of 3-6 at a time, and hands out the glasses. As you exit, there is another door keeper that collects the glasses. They have the entrance and exit within a few feet of each other, and they can pass the glasses back to the entrance minder. So technically, if you did you entrance/exit REALLY close to each other and are good about keeping track, you could have just one person manning the doors and keeping up with the glasses.

If you have the whole thing with 3D effects, it would be totally awesome, but I'm not sure it's worth the trouble for just one room. Definitely think it would be fun to have an actor in the room and doing the candy. Not sure how you'd hide the candy tub, tho.

Agree with Terra that while the fog effect would be cool, if you've got little TOTs going through, that could be a problem. If you could keep the fog below 2 feet, that would be better but I'm not sure how you'd limit that. BUT if you're familiar with your TOTs over the years and know that the really little ones won't go through, it might not be a problem.
