Sorry if this has been talked about before, but I'm just wondering how many people use facebook to promote their yard/garage/home haunt. What sort of things do you post on your facebook? How many people like your page?

I started a facebook for my haunt last year just a little before Halloween. I have pictures from previous year's haunts, and I post status updates with how many more days til Halloween, quotes about the season, and projects I'm working on. You can check it out if you like - facebook.com/BarrsDemonicAsylum

I'm wondering if other people use it and have good luck with using facebook to promote their haunt. I only have 70 people who like the page, and a lot of them are my family who can't even come to the haunt because they live in another state!

That's really cool! I don't know if anybody would actually "like" a Facebook page for our yard haunt...

I talk about my haunt on my personal facebook page for my friends, but I don't have a page for the haunt itself. I don't go to far out of my way to promote my haunt. It's just a friendly neighborhood affair for the ToT's mostly. I let friends know because they like to come down and hang out with us.

I try to use the facebook for my haunt to remind people that we accept donations of items (like clothes that can be used for dummies) and to "recruit" extra people to help act in the scenes. It does help a little bit. Our home haunt is just for the ToT's, our town is really small and no one else decorates really. Our house is the "go to" place, families frequently hang out for 15 minutes or a half hour, chatting and snacking (we have light refreshments). So last Halloween I put up a sign letting people know about the facebook page, got a few more people to like it after that.

I have only used my FB page to show friends and family our Halloween stuff, mainly because most of my family is out of town and not able to see our house. I have not really considered it as a tool to promote our house, I may have to rethink that???

I use my haunts facebook page also to show my family what's going on, most of them live in other states. It's still good to see the support from them, and get comments from them on the projects I'm working on. It helps to get a pick me up from them when they have positive comments on my new props. However, I can also use polls or discussions on facebook if I want to get feedback on a new idea I have. Even if it is mostly my family, they still have good ideas and comments for my ideas and questions. I like not always using my actual facebook for Halloween related things, whereas my haunts facebook is Halloween all year! At this time of year, I try and post a status update once a week to keep people following a long, and since we're heading into yard sale season, I've been reminding my followers that we accept donations that they might have just thrown away or given away.

My son puts our two haunted trails we do fore charity on face book and it does bring people out to the haunts. Last year was the first year we were on face book and we set a new record for $$$$

Yes, I set up a Facebook page for my haunt. I have to admit, I don't do much with it, but it's there.
