Hi All, I'm hoping some of you have been to Disney World in the month of October. Can anyone let me know where the best place to stay and what halloween stuff that I can't miss?

Hi !! We go every year around the end of sept..beginning of October. There are two things that I know of to do at Halloween time! First of all, the Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween party is a MUST DO!!!! You have to pay separate for it, but its worth every penny, especially if you are a halloween nut!!!! The parade and fireworks are AMAZING!!!!! They have a early and late parade...we usually go to the later one as people tend to clear out with little ones after the first parade. Make sure you see the Headless Horseman at the beginning. He is awesome!! The parade is my favorite one...all characters dressed up, lots of spookiness. They pipe spooky music throughout the whole park! The trick or treating is great too..the largest selection of candy I have seen!! We always get tons of good stuff, a huge variety! Halllowishes, which is the fireworks show is the best there is!! Very spooky! The lighting is awesome! We bought the CD of the party music to use here at home for our haunt and singing pumpkins. They also have a villans show at the stage in front of the castle, but we have always walked by and not watched but it seems cool. There are several dance parties for little ones! A lot of characters that are villans are out too...Cruella De Ville, the Evil Queen from Snow White, etc....also Snow White and ALL seven dwarfs are there for a meet and greet, as well as Cinderellas Carriage for pics. Awesome photo ops in front of the Haunted Mansion...which is so cool at night!! The photo pass pics also have some cool suprises with them! There is nothing like riding the HM during the party....very cool, cast members in make up and extra spooky!! MK is the only park that is decorated for Halloween, but there are carved pumpkins all around main street...so neat!! Also, with the party ticket, if you do not have a park hopper ticket, you can get into the part at 4-4:30, even though the party starts at 7 pm. Plan to have an early dinner or plan a quick dinner there as there is a lot to see/do at the party and you dont want to waste your time eating!! There is also a lot of really cool merchandise for Halloween you can buy too! There is also a haunted carriage ride at the wilderness lodge..it used to be a haunted hayride but now its in a carriage. We have never been but had some friends tell us how cool it is!!! We plan on going this year!! Hope this info helps, PM me if you have more questions, need details, etc

We went last year to Mickey's No-so-Scary Halloween Party and I'm right there with MM. Don't miss it! And good pointer about getting there early for the parade. The headless horseman makes way for it by running at a full gallop down the street. Incredible seeing the black beast he rides. For seeing the parade, we went to the second level of the train station. That way, you can see the fantastic dance routines from above.

Fireworks show is a must do and if you could, get close to the castle. People just sit down right on the street and the view is terrific. Take a second to also visit Mickey's house, he decorated his back yard for Halloween. The Haunted Mansion has many treats. There was a ghost Southern Lady who was cracking jokes with people out in front, the house has fog, a thunder storm and the front atrium is on fire. Don't forget to have your picture taken out in front. When it gets developed, there will be a surprise!

Here's a video of our night there:

During the Not So Scary party, you can come in costume (with restrictions, I'm sure). My wife shared a Pirates of the Carribean boat with a group dressed as pirates, quite fun, especially since they played up their characters.

With you there Craig. Wished we were in costume too... felt a bit left out. Many people were in costume.

Thanks MM for your terrific advice. I do have a question what is MK? You said MK is the only place that is full decorated. Also how do you get tickets to the Not-so-scary party?

Do any of the hotels or villas decorate?

Terra, thanks for the great video.

We are going for my babies first birthday and the other two are 4 and 2. They are very into halloween, almost more then me. =)

I want to take advantage of the in-suit childcare so my husband and I can go to the Universal Horror nights.

    Hi,

We were there October 22-29 this past year and had a terrific time. We were able to get a complete package that included an upgraded hotel choice and free food because it is during one of the slowest time of the year. We stayed at the Disney Caribbean resort. It was clean but not terrific for kids. We bought the 7 days with 5 passes to the theme parks. We did not do the park hopper because you can spend an entire day at each theme park. With our plan we got unlimited access to the 2 water parks. These could be used on the same days as the other theme parks. We were doing it on the cheap so we didn't spend the extra ($50.00 x 4)per person to see the Not so Scary Party. The MK (Majic Kingdom) was very quiet during the day the NSSP was going on. We spent virtually no time in lines. We left just before the parade started and it seemed more than 90% of the people were in costume.

For the first time ever I had an appreciation for the "It's a small world" ride. If you pay attention to the little characters they are all on electric motors and you can spot the various linkages many people use to build there props.

Bring Strollers or have strong back and shoulders for your three children.

    Disney always does it right.
    Enjoy.
When storage is a concearn, put your monster props under the kids beds.
