Hi everyone! So I check craigslist daily for Halloween itemsI have found some great items on there. Today I saw a listing for the Martha Stewart Silhouttes from Grandin Road. We do not have the store there, so I have never seen them in person, or know how much they originally listed for. Anyway, she has the witch with broom, lantern and cats, along with the vampire and candleabra for $250.00. I saw some listings on ebay, the Vampire was going for $65.00 and $25.00 for shipping (i think on the listing it originally went for $149?) There was also a witch only, no cats, broom or lantern for $55 plus shipping. So I could get the vampire and witch for $170 or all of it for $250 from this girl. For those of you who have seen them or have them, is that a good deal? Do you love them?? Also, I would have to drive about two hours to pick them up...so I need to figure that in. Thats not a very big deal bc where she would want to meet is where my parents live, so I could stop in and see them
The CL listing said they do not make the Vampire anymore?? Any info in helping me figure out if this is a good deal would be appreciated!! YEAH!!

Apparantly Gradin Road has them in their Halloween section on sale.

The deal isn't too bad to be honest. You are not paying for shipping and the vampire on GR says it won't ship until June. I'm not sure if they will make it anymore or not.

Oh man, I wish I hadn't seen the vampire. Now I have to have him!
Life is too short to not do what makes us happy, keeps us sane, or both.

I know this sounds silly but cant you make them yourself? We made the witch and cats last year and it really cost us very little. I know not every have saws, etc though. We had less than $20 in them all.
Although I really like the idea of not having to the work!
PS I love the vampire!!!

I'm with terri73. An afternoon with a Roto-Zip, jig saw (or similar) would produce those silhouettes nicely for less than $50 (Saw included!) The saws can be had at Big Lots, Harbor Freight, or Walmart at reasonable prices... and they will always come in handy. An even cheaper version could be made with Styrofoam sheets.
Cheapskate me would never pay that... or drive that far... but that's just me.

I have the vampire and really like him. Their silhouettes are made from a smooth finish hardwood plywood so the quality is good. I really like their witch and $79 seems like a good deal!

While I like the idea of picking up something ready made if its something you like, it is just plywood and black flat spray paint so to me still seems like a lot of money. I can tell you though that of the Martha Stewart items I've bought over the years, she does pick out quality made products.
If it were me I'd be tempted to find some silhoutte that I liked and enlarged it to trace onto some plywood. I bought a nice scrolling jigsaw from Big Lots two years ago so I wouldn't need much to come up with my own. If you don't own a saw you can rent one for the afternoon or maybe find someone who loves woodworking who would cut your figure out for you.
Good luck which ever way you go.

If you like them and think the price is fair go for it!
I'm with Terri though, silhouettes wouldn't be too bad to diy depending on how detailed it was. A while ago someone made a nosferatu silhouette from two pieces of cardstock poster board to put in a window and it turned out awesome. Or if you used plywood to make them free standing outside, either way doing it yourself would save you a little cash.Hello, I want my book. Bonjour, je veux mon livre.
