Before I go and try to re-invent the wheel. I was wondering if anyone has hid a fog machine inside a tombstone. If so, any problems and how well did it work?
I'm making a Celtic Cross Tombstone and was thinking of hiding the machine in the base. I was going to make the base frame out of PVC, wrap it in chicken wire and attach pink foam painted to look like stone to the chicken wore. The smoke could move out in the gaps between the rocks. Well at least in my head it would.

I have not, but I don't see why it couldn't work. Something similar: http://www.halloweenasylum.com/tombs...accessory.aspx

I would think you need some air circulating around to cool it down and an easy way to refill it

I didn't make my own but bought one a couple years ago, this one to be exact~
It's very thin, I ended up cutting holes in the bottom and then using 30" rebar to stick it to the ground and to sturdy it up a bit. The back is just some cloth that covers the fog machine. I actually think an at home build could do a way better job but I got this for next to nothing on clearance; it would look a whole lot better with a fog chiller ran thru it as well.

I got this at Target the day after halloween 2009. the fog machine is behind the tombstone with a piece of burlap over it. For 2011 I'm going to put a chickenwire frame over it to keep the cloth off the fogger. I don't know why you couldn't put a fogger in a tombstone as long as it has enough airspace around it, but it's easier to have the machine behind the stone.

Instead of hiding the machine inside the stone, you could place it in front of the stone, wrap it or cover it with plastic sheeting, put a dirt mound over it(like a freshly buried grave) with the tubes inside the stone instead.

I thought the tombstone trio was a must have until I got a look at it last year in a local store. The stones are, uh, tiny! I'm not sure what the heck you pay for with that package- the TUBE?! Not worth anything over 15 bucks, seriously. Make your own.

TNBrad put a fogger in a crypt. Looked really good: http://www.halloweenforum.com/member...graveyard.html

If you use a smaller fog machine like a Chauvet Hurricane 650 then you wouldn't have to worry about over-heating as much and can put it in a smaller stone. Had one in my Vampire in Coffin and no problems.
