We were reading some interesting facts and tidbits about Barnum the other day and got to wondering,
Would he be an avid Halloween haunter and maybe run The Greatest Horror Show on Earth!
So on the eve of the 110th anniversary of the late great showman's death have a quick read of some fun facts that make us think he just might...
Would P.T. Barnum be a Halloween Haunter?

I knew I fit in working for that company so long ago, but I just couldnt put my finger on it 'till now
Thanks! hehe. I also worked in the "exotic animals" division, with the scariest things I handled were ostriches and camels, not to mention the huge horns on the yaks.
Interesting he died on my birthday. :/

Noving a whole show across half of this country during the time he lived was not easy. Nobody had ever done such a thing before on such a scale and so successfully too!
Travel was very slow and often hazardous. "Roads" were not roads by our common standards now.
Does this kind of sound like putting a haunt together, just alittle bit?
Struggle, struggle some more, hope for the best.
I too like the sound of children having delightfull fun! We take the time here to really try to not terrorise small kids but to make them a positive part of everyone's "show" here, and it usually works! (Crreating a new customer base in the process)
P.T.'s promotional skills and ideas were revolutionary for the day! This was a time when liars were supposed to be a much more uncommonly found species among the good "Christian" people inhabiting this country, so he was usually walking a moral tightrope publically with his exhibits and letters he wrote to newspapers stimulating intrest in his entertainment business.
Imagine having a huge elephant at your estate used to plow with as the passenger trains came by! Always the Showman! (Of course they had a train schedule handy to make sure the elephant didn't work too hard for "Show".)
He was incredible, especially considering the era he lived in."My Insanity is well-respected, until they wiggle free and become a stringer for a tabloid"

Thanks for the article. I have always thought PT Barnum was as a sort of odd curiosity in and if himself! The early days of the traveling circus/carnivals seemed to be fraught with frightening and morbid displays. Throw in some seedy carnies and a bunch of clowns and voila, you have the stuff of nightmares!!!
Nothing beats a haunted moonlit night on
All Hallows Eve...
