I found this poll and thought it'd be a good one for this crowd....

    ___

Theme parks across the country have embraced Halloween events, which is why so many of them can be found in the field for the 2011 Theme Park Insider Tournament: America's Best Theme Park Event. Link to Article

The vote is between Knott's Berry Farm's Halloween Horror Haunt AND Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights.

never been to knotts but I can attest that Universal gets blown out of the water by Busch Gardens. Ive been to Universal 3 times and the misery of waiting for 30 second haunted houses after 4+ hours waiting, not much themes going on besides their normal decor, just all very lackluster and unfun.

Ive always had a blast with the details and amazing themes Busch gardens comes up with, their haunted houses are numerous and longer than 30 seconds to go through and less than a 15 minute wait if you have a line. The atmosphere is awesome and the pricing is great if you have at least 4 people on Thursday its $20 each.

I've been a Knotts Scary farm fan for years. I went to the Universal one twice and wasn't impressed enough to return. I don't know if it's gotten better or not, but Knott's always is a blast. I voted in the poll, but sadly Knott's is losing :-(

Went to Universal last year and though I had a lot of fun... it was a bit aggravating this year. Not sure if this was new but they did Congo lines into the haunts and really pushed you along. So, the house seemed very short and you missed many of the scares because you saw them coming. Previous years they haven't done that before and it was an awesome experience! They've still got innovative and realistic haunts though to the max. Haven't been to Knott's or Busch Gardens but hear they are a lot of fun also.

Here's my video from this year's visit to Universal's Halloween Horror Nights:

Hmm... I went to both Knott's Scary Farm and Universal's HHN. Looks like Universal's "gig" varies on location. Hollywood had a lot different scare-actors then there are in your video, Terra. Though, it looks just as entertaining.

I have to admit that there were elements of both that I liked... and things I didn't like too. I'm enjoying all the comments.

I'd say the highlight of HHN @ Hollywood was the Terror Tram-- getting to walk on the set of Psycho was *swoon*.... HHN did have better costumes, makeup and generally better "mazes". Though, I was disappointed with the House of 1000 Corpses-- it was historically inaccurate in places which, for me, detracted from the whole scare factor since it was less "real". I didn't like the SAW "maze" either-- it smelled terrible (which is, apparently, one of the senses Universal plays upon) and was chalked full of gore from the films, which I never particularly liked because of the high gore levels. (I'm not a fan of gore.) I did have a good time, but it was sold out and, therefore, crowded.

Knott's wasn't as "real", but I actually enjoyed myself at Knott's a bit better because of the theme-park rides and the more "classic" feel. The lines to the mazes moved quicker, the scares were more fun, there was less gore and it wasn't as crowded. *shrug* We did the "Boo-Fet" and stuffed ourselves with Knott's Fried Chicken-- Yum!-- and got into the park early. I voted for Knott's on the grounds they "invented" the theme park haunt.

I've never been to Busch Gardens, but I'm probably going to add it to my "things to do and see" list. =)

Oh, didn't catch that the question was for Hollywood's version. I've heard that the two (Orlando vs Hollywood) are pretty different from each other.

I've never been to either, so I'm going to have to sit this one out, unfortunately. Both do look very cool, from what I've seen over the years. Maybe someday...

If you are into great scares then its definitely Knotts. But if you are into cinema grade props and themed areas, then its Universal! I have been to all in Southern Cali and Knotts ranks highest in my opinion.
A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..
