A little while ago I bought these great giant latex ants from Dapper Cadaver and have been toying with ways to use them. So today I came across a National Geographic news story on how researchers have found this fungus in the Brazilian rain forest that infects an ant, takes over its brain, and then kills the ant once it moves to a better growing environment.
Love it! That's my backstory! Zombie Ants, who in my jungle haunt will have bit humans transferring the fungi to their new host and are responsible for a human zombie outbreak in town.
I'd love to get more info on this fungus or even news stories that could be incorporated into my haunt. Has anyone heard about this new Brazilian threat and potential seed for new Ant horror films along the lines of Them?
Here's the National Geographic story on the ants that I saw that started this whole thread: National Geo "Zombie" Ant Story
Could it get any better with this story: National Geo "Zombie" Ants Controlled and Decapitated by Flies
