Post any of your ideas for your 2011 display/haunt/decorating! I know this year theres not going to be much for me. No props underway really. I'm working on more technical things like lighting and sound; I need to perfect the basic before I advance. I might fix some decorations, and add some subtle things, but nothing really considered "big". For the inside, however, I might add a lifesize Gemmy, just because I usually buy one every year.

Well today I'm going to be working on making a fence for my cemetery with an old fence that my dog kinda messed up. At least it'll look worn and old.lol. I just need to paint it. I'm wanting to make a pumpkin patch this year but we'll see if the budget allows it. This is what I have want to work with. Don't really have any real props besides the ground breakers. Hopefully that will change this year.:-)

Well if you saw my pictures or walkthrough video of my 2010 yard, I'm thinking it'll be a lot the same. Hoping to add a spit roasting corpse, though I think that'll be my big project (assuming I can get some blucky's). But I also want to beef up my tombstones with cement bases, and new epitaphs. A grave grabber/ground breaker (again if I can get some blucky's). And maybe even a full corpsed blucky in a cage on the step/porch thingy with a sign that says "Didn't say Trick or Treat" or "Tried to pull a trick on us". I don't have a very large canvas to work with and it's only March, who knows what else I'll find to make this year.

Hahaha I love that idea for the skeleton in the cage with the sign. That's clever.

Well Jack, its a mix of two things I found on this forum. 1 being the caged skelly. 2 being a proposed idea of using old child size costumes and sticking them on pikes with the warning sign "Didn't say trick or treat". So I can't take credit for those two things. I'm simply mashing the two ideas together.

In the haunt im this year im going to be a clown. the room im planning to be in has black walls so im going to buy an assortment of neon balloons that are suppose to show up in blacklights good. i just looked up how long balloons stay inflated and they say air filled (not helium) can stay inflated for weeks or months. i was worried about that but seeing that got my hopes up. anyway im going to put the balloons all over the walls and have some hanging along with some severed limbs and a head or two. Depending on funds im probably going to buy a laser device that projects moving green laser dots on the floor. i dont know what its called but i saw it at spencers. ill probably jsut be using blacklights and that laser thing for lighting. All ideas to help my clown room are welcome.

That's still really neat though. Can't wait to see pictures.

Here's what I have been working on today. I have been itching to make something so I found an white old fence I used to use to keep my dog out of my flower bed. I don't use it anymore so I thought I'd paint it and make it part of my yard display. Only cost my like $3 for paint. I'm about half way done with them. Looking for more ideas of what I can put on them to make them more interesting. I'm taking suggestions by the way.lol.

This will be the second year to decorate the front yard of my house, had a grand total of 32 kids this last halloween, up from 5 the year before with no decoration and if we gain like that again this year we should have 192 kids., i did Six Big tombstones with Three Little Roundtops for some friends, i did not know that you used Styrofoam to make them so i did them out of 2X2's and Hardboard, they came out great, but am making more of different Sizes this year, I Live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and have been going to Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland and The cemeteries in Colma for some good Ideas, For this Year i'm already Made an 8 foot Cemetery Gate with Two Pillars, and and already Started on the Electric Chair from Plans i got from This Is Halloween, Some of the Other things i Have Planned are or have Started on, A Countdown Meter , A Giant Spider, a Door to Death, with real antique Door Hardware, a slimeline Groundbreaker coffin or two, A "Rotting Scarecrow", a Fog Machine and Lights, and for My Niece A Cthulhu Cut out for the Fence to The Back Yard. If all goes as planned i should be done By August.

I like that the pickets aren't painted all black evenly. I also dig the uneven way the pickets sit on the uh... horizontal piece of wood? If your running a graveyard, of course this would work for that. If you have more of a walk by and see with your eyes () not with your hands style of display you could run this along the sidewalk to let kids (and parents to keep their kids from..) getting onto your lawn, or what have you.

As for the caged blucky, I sort of came up with it as I was writing the rest of that post. At the moment I was thinking I would use some rebar we have sitting next to the old shack of a garage (probably built in freakin' 1643) which is in 10-12 foot lengths, lots of it too. As I think now about where I thought I would hang it from, I'm not sure it's so possible. I was thinking that I was gunna make the cage like the picture below (I'll make one before I post this haha) and it would take a lot of rebar, I figure where it would hang from might not hold it. So that might be a lost project. But we'll see how it goes.

Does anyone else use light o rama for their halloween haunts?
I wish I had video of mine last year to get some suggestions from others but I don't, this year
I plan on using light o rama for music/light seq....and I want to use a projector for some cool stuff I have made up for the side of my house.
Don't have many props but I am going to build a bigger graveyard and use 2 foggers.....can't wait....
