Last year was my first year actually doing a display now that I have a big house to decorate and I didn't really know what I was doing. I guess I was going for a more whimsical theme you could say. More tradition and kid friendly things. So I was wondering if you guys could check out my display from last year and give me some pointers on how I can maybe stage things better, maybe a prop I can make to make everything come together, something I can do to make it more cohesive or any suggestions at all really would be helpful.lol Thanks

Sorry some of the pictures are blurry.....

you have nice side yard leading to your front door. You could put up a cementery fence to join along yur other fence and add more tombstones all of which are great threads on here for how tos. Your lighting looks good maybe add more in the grave yard and some creatures too.

You have a very nice house, few things you can do is make the pvc pipe fence add in fog machines. Build a few toe pinchers. Buy a webcaster gun omg it is so much fun and the webs look real. You can also pick up a gemmy projector for on your fence. The imagination is endless. Lat year was my first time w/ my own house and it was a success.

I still don't know what I'm doing, and I've been doing it for years!

A quick word on taking good night shots that will show off your lighting effects without blurring:

    taking halloween photos
Taking low light photos...tips and tactics

As far as your display, are you wanting to go less "young kid friendly" and more spooky? Gory? Animated? Walk-through or display? (although if you're wanting to go bigger but still kid-friendly, the ever-controversial inflatables are pretty much kid magnets ) I like the cute skeleton holding the JOL - it's adorable!

You have to figure out your haunt style, and then look around for things that you could build/buy that fit your style.

If you're keeping the graveyard theme, most definitely more stones (do a search for how to make your own tombstones), add a fence (ditto search) and check out things like the shiatsu grave grabbers (an animated ground breaking zombie/skeleton that is pretty cool and you can make yourself), a grave digger, ghosts, the amazing Flying Crank Ghost, mausoleums... there are soooo many things you can do with this theme and add to it each year.

    Your cemetery.
Great thread with tons of inspiration photos for graveyards, tho it looks like some of the photos links are broken now, darn it.

If you want to switch up your theme, I've seen aliens, scarecrows, pumpkin patch, wild west, pirates... all of these have been done by HF members. Try flipping through some of the posts and don't be afraid of that search function (the buttons up on the upper right).
