I have been reading this forum for two years now and this is my first post.
My daughters and I each year have setup an every growing haunt. This year we are moving to a maze like haunt. We have already started speaking to people about volunteering as actors and helping with setup. We would like to collect food for the local charity. The haunt is free. Has anybody else done something like this. I am wondering if I need to do anything special since we are collecting the food other then contacting the charity ahead of time.
Thanks
Chris

Wonderful idea Ulfric!
We do this every year and the response has grown. We collected nearly 100 pounds of canned goods and other food for the local food pantry.
We set up cauldrons in the front yard and at the front door for folks to make the drop off throughout the weekend of Halloween. I made sure that in all my party invitations, e-mails and notes to the neighborhood I put info about the food drive and encouraged people to contribute as they came to our house for Trick-or-Treating, and for attending our party. We printed a sign from a design shared by one of the Forum members who does this also and it was a really great turn out. You will find so many HF members also use their Halloween Haunts for food drive efforts.
It is a perfect way to get your friends involved in helping the community and it teaches kids the importance of giving - not just getting treats at Halloween! Enjoy and let us know how it turns out!
