I've looked around, both don't see what I consider true old-fashioned, traditional Halloween parties. I'm talking something in an old barn, or a party at the local town hall. I would say most of these went out of style a good decade or two ago. I'm thinking something in the country, straight out of the scene from "A Legend of Sleepy Hollow." I did hear about one from my wife's nephew some years back, where they had one in an actual barn. To me, that sounds like the ultimate fun for an old fashioned Halloween bash. I know a lot of people try to incorporate vintage items and games, but I would love to go to the real deal, if they're even around anymore. Or a video of one online would be cool. If anyone knows of any in Pa, Delaware, or even MD, send me an invite, lol. I'll even read some spooky stories from one of my books.

I also remember our borough hall handing out candy for trick-or-treaters that we went to in between raiding. Another thing I don't see much of are local Jaycees with haunted houses. Anyone involved in something like this?

    Thanks for any input.
    Paul.

Our Jaycees stopped doing haunted houses years ago because the new generation had a falling out with the old generation.

Montpelier (President James Madison's home) in Virginia used to do a barn haunt for kids in one of their old barns. They just remodeled Montpelier, so I'm not sure if they still do the barn haunt or not. I don't have any kids so I don't pay much attention.

In my demographic, you usually have to be filthy rich to have a barn around here. That leads class boundaries galore. Sad to say, theres not much traditional life around me. ( Maybe that would make the idea all the better).

On the other hand, LA is full of theatrical people so it wouldn't be far fetched to have a strictly "vintage" style Halloween....say "vintage" in the city and you'll get a better reaction, lol. Although I do love the creatures and all that, it sounds cool.
