While at Big Lots today I stumbled across a great sale on wax coated LED candles. Any $5 candle or candle set is now 2/$5 through Christmas Eve. That translates to $2.50 getting you either three tall votives, two 3"x3" pillars, or one 3" x 6" pillar. Colors available are solid white, solid dark red, or peppermint striped. Although I think we can safely assume that last combination won't be of much use to most haunters, the others certainly could be. I bought a bunch of white ones with the intention of customizing them with candle paint.

I love these candles. You can also strip the wax coating off the pillar candles there should be a translucent plastic box surrounding the works, or you take apart the box and use the tips, I have two pillars that I have totally stripped and use inside pumpkins or my JOL boxes. I had one that was gold glittered that I hated, so I started pulling off the wax, then I had to take it one step further and go naked. These have a dual switch you can run the candle tip only or both leds and candle tip. I left the candle tip on in this picture, underneath is a flickering yellow led. Here it is with a stubby screwdriver and a bowl of ramen noodle soup for size reference. You results may vary, I got my candle at JoAnn Fabrics.

I have no idea why I do these things.
