Of course there's 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' for obvious reasons.

This morning I'm watching 'Joy Ride' for the 'Candy Cane' handle...and Paul Walker's butt.

    What?

There's always a certain festive creepiness to "A Christmas Carol." The new animated one from last year really played this up to great effect, imo.

Are you looking for horror films to watch around Christmas?

If so, Silent Night, Deadly Night and Christmas Evil should be on the list.

    There’s also…

    Don’t Open Till Christmas
    Santa’s Slay
    Silent Night, Bloody Night
Tales From The Crypt (1972) for “...And All Through the House”

There is also a new film coming out called Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale.
You'll have money and all that money can buy.

I quickly miss-read the post title, I thought it read "Movies to get away from".
Maybe it's just that I am "old"(61) and I lost my horror-movie "Cherry" many years ago, but believe it or not sports fans I really have not watched many horror movies after I turned 30, and from what I have seen and heard about, I don't feel as if I have "missed" anything, much, but I have spent many hours building my haunted house and operating it, being open almost every night of the year, approaching 24 yrs. and have laughed almost continiously every night.
    It's my therapy, I guess?

I was able to see it at the IFC theater in NYC before X-mas and really enjoyed it. Wish it had gotten a bigger release but I think it'll make a big splash when it makes it do DVD/Blu-Ray.

I think Gremlins is a good one. It is a bit Halloween-ish, Gizmo was a gift, and it had a Christmas setting, so pretty fitting.

I'm not biased, I watch John Carpenter's Halloween throughout the entire year regardless of the season.
