Pumpkin recipes abound, or maybe you fed it to the birds.
Ours just sat on the porch, uncarved, so it didnt rot or anything. Finally today, days before Thanksgiving, I cut it open and cooked the seeds. Yum! I'm a bad cook, but maybe I can cook the rest of it and have it with Thanksgiving dinner. hmmm

Of course if you carved it, it probably just started to rot after a while.

Carving pumpkins weren't bred for flavor/sweetness like sugar/pie pumpkins so they're really not ideal for cooking. You /can/, but you won't get the same results.

our carved pumpkins are now in the compost bin. We still have 2 more pie pumpkins that we have to process and freeze.

Mine sat out on the porch railing, giving the kids a giggle as they mutated. Eventually, the deer ate them.

I switched to the foam ones a couple of years ago so I normally don't have real ones sitting around but someone gave me a couple for free so I just left them out uncarved. There's one uncarved one sitting by our dogwood tree & I'll be cracking it in half for the squirrels soon.

I may keep a few seeds for the garden in case I wanna try growing them again, but the rest will be for the squirrels. If any is left after a week or so it'll go in the compost.

They're rotting in the compost pile, along with most everything else this year.

Compost pile. It was quite cool watching them rot, and the birds and squirrels were thrilled.

Totally off topic, but I am intrigued by everyones compost pile....is this easy to do?
I have three pumpkins left uncarved from our singing pumpkin display....will open them for the squirrels!

We have a very basic one. Started it in a far corner of the yard (it's behind some plantings that hide the pile if you are just looking in the general direction). No wire or anything, just started dumping grass clippings, leaves and kitchen scraps (veggie bits, coffee grounds and eggshells crushed up) in a pile. I have a small bucket in the kitchen for dumping the stuff into as I'm cooking, and we go dump it on the pile during the clean-up after the meal and then rinse it out and put it under our sink until it's needed.

We go water the pile every once in a while if there isn't any rain, and we get a shovel and turn it over every few months so it gets circulated and breaks down evenly.

There are little gnats and worms and the like (one of the other reasons the birds love it) so you wouldn't want it right by your house or any patio. We have never smelled anything bad as we don't put anything on it but grass/leaves/organic stuff.
