I'm a noob on Halloween Forum ("Hi!"). Yesterday I put up a video of our Haunted Homestead haunt and got a few questions about the props, in particular the Pumpkin Sentinels. . . Charles and Howard.

The pumpkin heads are papier mache and the body is papier mache over a wood frame and cardboard ribs. Everything was given a good coat of Spar Urethane to waterproof the papier mache.

I stretched black trash bags over the ribs. A heat gun was used to shrink the plastic to look like dead skin or flesh. A coat of white latex primer over everything followed by flat black latex before painting with acrylic.

The heads are lit with an orange CFL with Cowlicious LED Deluxe eye faders. A homemade LED orange spot is on the base pointing up at them. I hacked the lanterns with a 110V C7 candelabra flicker lamp and sprayed the glass with matte fixative to look etched and old.

Here's the video and a short slideshow of construction. Hope you like them.

Charles and Howard ROCK and so does their recorded introduction - That was pretty cool too.
You know you have a successful haunt when the ADULT visitors pee their pants.

I really liked those from your first video. Couldn't think of what you had called them. I also really like the audio. Thanks for posting the how-to.
