Last night the local fire chief knocked on my door & asked me to help them with their annual haunted fire station next year! They have been doing this for the last 25 years. They saw my yard & heard all the kids talking about it this year. They want to go spookier than they have been & want me to design & set it up for them. The whole fire department seems to be willing to help build props. He said he's not sure on the budget yet bet it'll be in the $1500 - $2000 range. Time to learn Pneumatics & some electronics I think.
I'm so excited I can't stand it. The only thing i asked was to be sure it didn't take me away from my own home yard haunt. Life is good right now!

Awesome! Congrats!!
Our fire dept auxiliary did our first "Fall Festival" this year & I wasn't really consulted for it (I'm an auxiliary member) & I told them "Next year, don't buy ANY decorations, I've got MORE than enough that you can borrow. "
So next year they'll step it up, have better decorations & I'll slowly lead them into doing a haunted house eventually!!Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, the best damn little band you should be listening to!

Congrats!....Actually $1500-$2000 isn't much of a budget for including pnuematics because they cut into budget fast....Besides that, you have a group of actual people to work with and I'm finding out that people scares are far more effective than pnuematics anyway...... It may be a good idea to have him get a "crew" together that want to work on it and figure out a meeting place to get the group together to figure out exactly what it is they want to do and also a place to build stuff....Let them buy the materials though so your not stuck with a bill or worse- somehow it goes sour and they blame you for keeping some of the $$$/budget......Maybe start by getting them to each make a tombstone....Show them how cool styrofoam can be....I would definitely make it a group effort building stuff though because otherwise you will DEFINITELY be taking away from your own haunt build....Those guys will probably get stoked after the first few builds and won't be long til you can hand the leads over to them....Just make sure it's this kind of scenario and not one where they are trying to find some "schmuck" to build the stuff so they don't have to mess with it....If you show up to a meeting and your the only one that's there, then it's time to split and let them figure out the creative side on their own..... Definitely sounds like it could be a blast though....Congrats....ZR

That's great ! I get excited when the kids in the neighborhood tell us that they think our house is the best. This year we had someone from another town ( 20 miles away) that told us that people in their town know about our house ! I can't imagine how cool it would be to have someone actually ask for our help like that, what an awsome compliment !!
