This has bugged me ever since they came out. Why do they have ears? Are they a re-use of an old mold? The closest I can think of are the Valentines hearts but they don't match those either. Unless they squish them after forming them. What madman has decided that pumpkins should have ears!? They're like little foxes.![]()

Maybe they're patterned after these...

I'm at that awkward stage in life... Somewhere between 'Annoying Fanboy' ...and 'Dirty Old Man'...

I thought it was probably just a re-dyed Heart but they're not really the same size and shape, the hearts are a bigger and pointed at the bottom. They would have to squeeze the hearts from the top and bottom to make the pumpkin. One would think it would be cheaper to make a new mold shape than to make a squeezing machine. I find it both hilarious and confusing every time I see these things.

Love spammers!
Did they used to have a cat head? That would explain the ears.
