So I have spent most of the morning taking down the Halloween window clings from our 2 windows. Up until this year we never could figure out how to keep those things in the window without falling down. I decided to do a little research on-line to see if I could come up with some ideas. I ran across some page, don't even remember now where it was, and they said to use hairspray on them and they would stick great! Well, they sure did! I went to start peeling them off of the windows and they came off with no problems. But, the colors and everything else stayed on the windows!
So, I then went, got a razor, broke it down, took the blade and proceeded to start scraping the windows. Now that was some work! My question to you all, do they not make those little pictures anymore that we use to tape to the windows? They were so much better than using clings! We are now clingless. I threw them all in the trash. They're a pain trying to figure out how to store them as well.

Have you looked into trying total window covers or posters ? We picked up these window spiders this year so we would have something for the second floor of the new house. They turned out great. We actually used them in combination with flickering lights in each of the bedrooms. Just used a couple of tacks to keep them up there.

That's a very strong possibility. I have searched and searched over the last few years and I am at the conclusion that they just don't make those pictures anymore. Those window covers are looking pretty enticing. They look good in your picture. I think they make some of Jason if I'm not mistaken. Maybe others as well?

Yep.
I have some old school silhouettes of everything from Frankenstein to ghosts to witches & a werewolf.
I also have the newer ones that are giant skulls with eyeballs. I just tape 'em to the window molding, leave the light on in the room (or you could spotlight it) & there ya go!
Here's a few, and here's a few more!
When I was doing window clings I'd make sure the window was squeaky clean & then spray the spot with some Windex & then put the cling up over the wet spot. Most of the time they stayed up but not 100% of the time. Usually I'd find some corner pulled up. And like you said, they're a pain to store.
Though I did buy some cool looking ones at the Dollar Tree because I liked the images, though I never used them.Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, the best damn little band you should be listening to!

It looks like the window covers will be the way to go from now on. Most of the clings we used this year we also bought from the Dollar Tree. They actually didn't leave no type of imprint when I removed them. I still threw them away though. I'm just over clings. I actually did try using Windex but like you said there were corners that started coming up and that just got on my nerves lol. Thanks for the links

I never could get 'em all to stick completely either. Sometimes I'd just tape 'em down!

I think the older types, the ones that were thinner & had more clear vinyl to them, stuck better with or without Windex. The new, thicker, imprinted ones don't wanna stick.
I love my window coverings. Less mess & the windows don't need to be perfectly clean.Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, the best damn little band you should be listening to!

HouseHaunters.com makes some nice full window silhouettes. http://www.househaunters.com/index.php?id=5
They're on clear sheets of plastic, like a shower curtain, so it doesn't matter if your window is multi-pane.

I use window clings for several holidays. All I do is fill a spray bottle with cold water adjust the nozzle to mist and mist down the window. After that I just peeled the clings from there backing and stick them on the windows. They always stick for me and peel off with no problems what so ever. I store them in a special book just for window clings.
