Thread: Last Minute Swamp Haunt 2010

We had planned a swamp with a dock and a façade for the front of the house. However, some family things and work things came up and we didn’t have the time. So we scaled way back. Then, a request to help with a haunted house for my son’s daycare for Friday. In the 11th hour and they had nothing. Plus a trip to the ER for 6 hours (all is okay) Thursday night. So, on Saturday this is what we were able to put together.

The swamp was create with a border and black plastic (about 10ft x 50ft). We has cattails etc around the border that held some of those green clip LEDs shining into the “water”, plus a low lying fog. We had a skeleton arm/hand coming out of the water holding a lantern lit by a flicker light. Had a small grave yard and some other features. Speakers playing bog/swamp sounds. The neighbors loved it! Whew!!! The last minute stuff is killing us! I think I’m still sore from all of that.

Created a bunch of mini skeley fairies and put a few of them in cages and had LEDs lighting them, with the shadows on the wall from them.

Nice. This was great for a last minute thing. I know the local kids loved your taking the time amid all the obstacles.

I thought everything looked great. A nice variety of decorations and props and even lighting. Pretty good last minute set up there! BTW did you add any water on top of your plastic?

I ended up sprinkling some water over top. That helped hold the fog down in the swamp area. Didn't fill it at all. I was surprised how the green little clip LEDs on the black plastic really looked like a swamp.
