Other Bank of Pumpkin Pails

Here's something new I came up with for Halloween 2009.

I ended up driving all over town hunting up enough different colored plastic pumpkin pails, collecting them from Target, Sears Essentials, Walmart, and cleaning out the entire stock of two Toys R Us stores. I bolted the bottom row of pails to a strip of wood that I painted white (to match the porch rail) and zip tied the strip to the rail. I attached the other pails by drilling small holes near the top of each pail - one on either side - and used colored zip ties to lock each pail to the one beneath and above it.

For more support, I also zip tied each pail of the top row to the pail beside it, and then anchored the two pails on the far sides to the upright rails (with more zip ties of course).

Though the pic I've included was shot in the daylight and doesn't show the unit to its best effect, each pumpkin was lighted (some blinking) and highly visible. I melted a hole into the back side of each pail and inserted a Christmas light.

Dolls sealing a doll

I am making my daughter a doll for xmas again....last year made her a saw doll...turned out great. This year i am making her a chucky doll.
I found an old doll and have painted it with craft paint and used some clay for extra features. Well ...the doll is like a vinyl or rubber. I used mod podge to seal it but it seems to be lifting a bit....so i had some water based floor sealer and used it.Now it is cracking a bit but it is hardening.Any ideas to seal it? should i keep trying the floor sealer or go back to the mod podge?
I would hate to have to peel of the whole thing and start new.Since i have stitches in and everything.Try to get a pic of it up.Thanks

Well is it 00:26AM on Halloween morning and I just finished stenciling 100 Pirate "Booty" bags!

We did this last year with different (Larger) stencils, but I like the way these turned out. We bought the cloth bags from the "Oriental Trading Company" and the stenciling kit came from "Michaels" crafts store.

We will be filling them with treasure candy for the little ToT'ers..... the older kids will get regular candy bars......

So I figured this would be possibly one of the best places to ask this and I know its kind of late but I'm one of those kind of girls.

I have planned to make pretty cool prizes for our costume contest at our party. So far I've come up with zombie sock monkey for Best, monster wreath (fur wreath with eyeballs) for Sexiest, and a blood pillow for Scariest (which I've already made).

The one I'm stuck on and can't seem to get creative about is Funniest. Any suggestions?

Okay, So I have this idea of making an evil clown costume and I am going to cut a jean shirt i got into a vest just i am not sure how i could cut it to make it look more rough and destroyed , I am thinking about maybe cutting it with a knife rather then scissors, can anyone give me any input on what would be a decent way to cut it design wise?

Here are a few pics of some Martha Stewart inspired crafts

1. Shadow casters made from black card

2. Pumpkin globe lights made from tissue paper and watered down glue

The shadow casters were later used in a different way by taping them to the inside of lampshades at my restaurant.

Hi guys,

Big fan of the site. I have finally moved into a house and can try some of the awesome things you guys do. This year I tried to grow my own pumpkins. Six plants grew but they only produced one pumpkin and it wasn't very big

http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/yy153/straud13/Little_Pumpkin.jpg

I carved it anyway.

http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/yy153/straud13/CarvedLittlePumpkin.jpg

I also made a Halloween Wreath. Just purchased a premade grapevine wreath from a craft store for $4, a bag of spider webbing, a bag of spiders and one foam skull.

I cut a semi circle out of the back of the skull and glued it to the wreath. I also ran some wire through the skull and tied it on for extra support.

Not nearly as cool as some of your yards, but every journey starts with a first step.

I've almost finished it, I just have to bind the pages in.

I had a lovely Samhain plaque so I thinned it off and used that on the front
The book cover was made with thick card and some suede like fabric I had, some trimmings etc.

I mixed various acrylic paints to get the shade I wanted and dry brushed on gold acrylic to pick up and creases and make it look older. On the back I cut out a triquetra with thick paper and painted over it.

It's not perfect, but it's my first attempt at spellbook making :)
