Hey guys!
Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but I recently designed a Zombie T-Shirt to correlate with my blog "The Holidaze"
www.the-holidaze.blogspot.com

I love the holidays and zombies, so I designed a shirt for the 4th of July. I want to make shirts featuring zombies celebrating as many holidays as possible. But it takes support on Teespring.com. I thought this would be a great community to share with.

Check it out

Thanks, guys! :) and if you haven't checked out The Holidaze yet, please do so. I can't wait to start it up again in September! :D

The Dollar Tree has broom corn (In 5 oz bags labelled 'broom grass') in multiple colors now. This is what actual brooms are made of - not the modern plastic or corn brooms, but the really good ones. Normally broom straw is expensive, as you have to buy a ton at once, so I jumped at the chance to finish off some broomsticks I decorated years ago before discovering I couldn't get the broom corn.

I'll add more posts when it is finished, and I'll also show pictures when I start my second one. I think I may also make a squidoo page for it, so i can gather all the pictures together easily. For now, you can see some pictures here:

I still have to attach more broom corn, finish the string part that holds it all together, and decide if I want to trim to end of the broom corn. It is longer than I want, but I love its flowing look.

Basic materials for this project are:
A sturdy, thin rope/string. Twine, flax, nylon, etc work well. (I am using flax, because I acquired a giant roll of it years ago. I don't recommend yarn.)
Broom corn
A stick. Any stick. You can even use a piece of wrought iron - which can look really gorgeous.

Three things I'll note about this:
1. This is a two person project. I tried and tried to do it myself, and I believe it is nearly impossible to do by yourself.
2. If you have cats, they will attack and destroy the broom corn. Keep it away from them.
3. I learned about broommaking from someone who actually makes historical brooms. My version is not going to result in a broom you can trust for actual cleaning. (For that you need machinery that isn't made anymore, and is very expensive to procure.). But it'll be more than sturdy enough for decorating, and Halloween witchery.

This isn't so much of a post about a craft, more of a request for craft ideas...so I hope this is in the right section.

I recently started a Paranormal Club at my college and we have planned a few events for summer to do outside the college. One of them is to host a World UFO Day event in July. I did one last year on my own for a few friends (which included watching Paul and chatting.) Last year, I wanted to include a craft for everyone to do...so we wound up making UFOs out of paper plates and foil...which were...um...sort of a failure...but it was the only thing I could find for us to do.

So this year, I'm planning a BBQ and another movie (MIB3) and I want to try doing another craft. Creating UFOs was fun...but I either need better instructions/ideas or a different type of UFO-ing craft. But really, any type of UFO or alien related craft would be great to do! My only requirements are that it not be super hard to do or super easy (ie really childish) (most of the people attending will be in their early-mid 20s after all). And that the stuff required to do the craft not cost much as I'm on a really tight budget.

I figured some of you Crafty Haunters might have some ideas. ;)
So can anyone help me out?

(I'm also open to any general party ideas that fit the theme as well. :D)

I hit my 21st birthday the other day and decided the first thing I'd do with my present money was get some modeling clay, because I've been dying to start making props.

So I sat down on this Friday night and started making teeth. Human teeth, vampire fangs, werewolf/wolf fangs.. I'm going crazy with 'em.

I intend to start selling them for ready-to-use props and effects.

Dolls meet Agnes the witch

Here is Agnes, my witch doll, I used a skull from the dollar tree for a head size and skulpty clay. When in the oven, a bit of the plastic skull sunk in, had to build her face back up, but if you look close it is still on one side a bit flatter. This was my first attempt using skulpty clay, have used celluclay and paper clay on full size heads, but never a small one,. one of her hands had the fingers break off, seeing as they were already attached I used paper clay to remake it, but they broke too, so the owl is sitting on one to hide that, used a combination of paper clay and hot glue to keep it on.I don't think you can tell well from the pictures , but she has a black velveteen cloak, that is what the orange ties in the front of the dress are from.. I have things I will do different next time I decide to make one, but here she is,, hope you enjoy her!

Finally got Dobby's head done. Alot of trial and error on this one as I was trying out different techniques. He eventually will be mounted on an oval shaped mirror with hands at the bottom of it to make it look like he is coming out of the mirror. I started out with a styrofoam wig head and used everything from ping pong balls, air dry clay and even construction glue to do some of the molding and the wrinkled skin.

and thanks Paulizdead for all your helpful tips on your methods. Can't wait to try to use them on a head that has a little less structure to it and more free form creativeness.
