Vampire Fang Reviews?!

Hi everyone!

I've been searching everywhere for some reviews on 'Bloody Mary' fangs, and how well they compare to 'Scarecrow' fangs as my friends and I are going as vampires (origional, i know! ) this year, and i've been designated to source all the stuff!

It's really difficult to get hold of decent fangs in the uk, as most are American brands, but i managed to find a store over here that sells both Scarecrow and Bloody Mary fangs. The Bloody Mary ones work out at about £9 and the Scarecrow are £15.

Now, i've heard good things about Scarecrow, but wondered if Bloody mary fangs are almost as good, so we can save the difference in cash....more to spend on booze then! :P

Also, i have quite big teeth, would the subtle scarecrow fangs look silly on me? or does the subtle bit just refer to how long they are rather than how wide they are?

Any help would be great!

Thanks everyone!!!

Build your own scratch built corpse DVD

I bought the BUILD YOUR OWN SCRATCH BUILT CORPSE dvd last year from MonsterCloset.com. I just wanted to say that it was very reasonably priced, entertaining in a cheesy way (totally on purpose) and very easy to follow to make nice looking props. I myself have only done the heads and not the entire corpse but they came out great and I found if I ever had any questions I would just email them and got an answer on the same day. :D

If you are looking to make any glowing liquids, I am very happy with this stuff. The bottle in this picture had only 2 drops of Wildfire dye in it. a bottle is $5.99 and is supposed to treat up to 4 gallons of water. I bought this stuff from blacklight.com . Good communication from them, and fast shipping. :D

Sideshow Gaffs from Ebay

As some of you know, I started a 'Haunted Carnival' yard haunt last year. In my carnival, I have a side show tent. I've been looking for some good sideshow gaffs on the internet, that were reasonable. I finally found this seller on Ebay - 'neald123'. I bought 2 off of him last Wednesday, and received them on Saturday (fast shipping!!!). They were both listed as 'Buy It Now', and were great prices. One is a Fiji Mermaid (7" long) ($10.99 + $2.80 s/h), and the other is a Fairie Mummy (7"x7") ($15.99 + $4.80 s/h). The quality of these two items is outstanding. I wish I could afford to buy some of his others. Take a look on Ebay if you are looking for some high quality gaffs, that are a great value. I love these things. They are made from an epoxy resin & polymer clay and are hand painted. From what I've seen, the listings show the actual item being sold.

If you are looking for a 3 axis skull and don't want to pay $700 to $1500 check out Dr. Morbious' 3 axis skulls. I bought one for $400 and it is awesome. Not only does it have 3 axis movement, but also 2 axis eyes. I'm using it as a greater this year. You will not find anything even close for the money.

Basically its a piece of crap.
Extremely poor quality audio even when played through a boom box.
On its own it is completely unacceptable. Very low volume.
I have heard better audio from $10 stuffed animals.
btw batteries were new when I tried it.

This thing is So Cool!
I love it.
It Looks great even from inches away.
Worthy of a place in Disneys Haunted Mansion.

The Videos on Nightsfrights.com set my expectaions pretty high.
This is one of those Rare instances where a product actually lives up to my expectations. Considering some of the add ons Nightfrights is working on. I'd say it exceeds my expectations of what a Haunted Bust can be. They are really taking things to a new level.

Mike was incrediblly helpful in answering my many questions. This is a big ticket item for me. So I had alot of questions. Thanks Mike.

Everything right down to the screw to attach the projector bracket has been taken into account and been provided.
The whole experience has been a pleasure.

Over the years I have collected many props and spend alot of money.
Over the coarse of a season I would end up with alot of ok, cheaper props. This time I decided to splurge and buy one world class prop.
I'm glad I did.

The Shocker electric chair kit.

Here is my review of Distortions “The Shocker Electric Chair Kit”

First I’d like to mention I rode the fence for a long time on buying this.
After all it’s the concept that is what makes it good. It could be done without the kit.
I made an electric chair years ago that used a mask with eyes popped out of the sockets and gloves. Not so perfect but it worked.

I ended up getting this kit. Thinking the benefit of continuity and detail of having all the pieces being made for each other would be beneficial.

The Mask is very nice, good paint job, coil on top of the head was nicely dry brushed with silver.

The “Transformer pieces” that go on each side of the chair are the same piece. I understand using the same piece to save on casting another piece that will be the same exact thing. But what was overlooked was they aren’t symmetrical. The tips are pointed at an angle (2 o’clock) if looking down at it.
So once you orient the second piece facing the first, the other piece ends up pointing at about eight o’clock. So one is pointing behind the persons head and the other is pointing toward the front of the persons head.
This problem could have been avoided by simply making the tips point to the side (three o’clock) not at an angle. So when the second one is in place it would point to 9 o’clock, centered at the persons head.
These pieces had quite a bit of imperfections from casting. But I can live with that. Or I could make new ones that would be smooth and even.
These pieces do not have the same dry brush work as the coil on top of the head.

The transformer piece that goes on top of the trash can was only a half piece. In the included DVD it clearly shows this piece as a whole piece, having a front and back.
This piece was a much cleaner casting. Don’t know why. This also lacks the silver dry brush work.

The flashing light colors don’t show through the latex as it appears to in the pics I have seen.

It gets better…
Although I liked the paint job on the hands…
they appear to be recycled from an animatronic prop. The problem with this is, its not big enough to wear. Even after slicing the latex up to the wrists. The only person who was able to put them on was my wife who is 5ft even and 110 lbs

The DVD is pretty much the same as what I saw on you tube. A nice feature is that it automatically pauses itself after the routine on a black screen. So you only have to worry about hitting play, it will automatically pause at the end for you.

After contacting Distortions, they initially said everyone has loved this product.
They did agree to send another “Half coil” so I could glue it to the existing one. My concern here is they won’t mate up well.

After trying their solution of cutting the hands without resolving the problem they said they would be recasting the hands for the kit in the next couple weeks and would send a replacement.

I found it surprising that a company that makes masks could overlook such a basic rule to make something bigger to allow it to be worn.

I guess one could say it is a “Kit” and as such does need some work. But ironically most of the work seems to be correcting the problems with continuity, the very reason I bought this thing to begin with.

I do hope they send the replacement hands and half coil. At least then it would be useable. They said the half coil would be sent out on 4/2 and the hands would be recast in the following two weeks. We’ll see!

Well, 1 ½ months later. No replacement coil. Not even an answer to two e mails asking about the “newly recast hands”

So bottom line, as things stand right now…
It is a complete waste of money. The only “shock” that came out of this kit was the insulting lack of concern of a products condition before marketing it.

If anyone has this kit, I would love to compare notes. Did you have the same problems?

I will update this review if anything is resolved.
