Need Help: Scarecrow from Batman Arkham Asylum

So, suggestions on how I go about creating this? My sewing abilities are somewhere between nil and none - I can manage buttons, straight hems, and sewing fabric together.

Does anyone here know how to make the type of costume that's in the Corn Witch video on Pumpkin rots site . It's a very short shot at the beginning and once more , even more briefly , at the end .

It looks to be based on some type of Brazilian Carnival costume trick . At least that's the way I'm researching it now but so far no luck .

The closest thing I can find is this Gore Galore lurker . What I really need to know is how the framing is constructed .

Any direction would be appreciated .

Help on decision for an expensive mask

Hey guys,

This year I have a small budget for Halloween. Most unfortunately though, this is the first time in a long time that I am looking into dressing up (and am super excited about it). I really want to dress as Leatherface.

I've been looking around for masks, and have come to find the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake Leatherface mask in two styles: full over the head, and a 3/4 mask. They have the same face design, however, the 3/4 mask is missing the neck piece.

Full Deluxe Mask:

3/4 Mask:

Based on my searching so far, the deluxe, full over-the-head mask seems to be around $50. The 3/4 mask seems to be $25. For those of you that have experience with expensive masks..... is the full mask really worth the extra $20 to $30? Obviously, I would be able to use whatever I buy for future Halloweens, so I want to get something worthwhile....

Lastly, do any of you have any tips on saving money when purchasing an expensive mask? I am really considering buying a shirt and apron and staining them and finally adding blood to save money....

Sorry for the long post. Any help/advice/insight is appreciated. :)

I was a bit nervous about trying this on as it's made of full body spandex, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. Had to order it from China. Can you tell what it is? If not, it's the Pheonix from X-Men for our Heroes & Villians themed party. Now I just need to find the perfect red wig.

Hospital gowns & straight jackets

Our theme this year is an asylum, and I would like to have some of the props and people dressed in hospital gowns, maybe with threadbare robes over them and slippers... does anybody know where I can get like 10 hospital gowns cheap? I suppose if I have to, I can sew them, but it would be a lot easier if there is a place where I can order a few of them instead.

Also, I need to make a few straight jackets. They don't have to be sturdy by any means, they just have to have the appearance of being strong. Does anybody happen to have a pattern for how to make a straight jacket?

Kick Ass Costume

What do you guys think, will the Kick Ass superhero costume be one of the overly popular costumes this year?

I usually stick to traditional scary costumes, but this Halloween weekend I'll be away at a national conference with a bunch of college students. I think a well-done Kick Ass costume could be a huge hit. I'm just afraid that it might be too popular, like The Dark Knight's Joker.

I actually hadn't seen the movie until last night. It was hilarious, but I'm not sure how popular it was when first released. A Red Mist costume would be great, but would be much harder to put together and I'd hate to wear it all night.

I've never bought a costume from a store in my life, but luckily for me my mom's a seamstress. The bodysuit and mask wouldn't be a problem at all. Add to that some knock-off Timberland boots for about $25 and some dish washing gloves, and I'd be set. It would pack well, too.

What do you guys think?

Ok heres my question I went to the thift store looking for a wedding gown to dye black to go as lady death this yr as my dh will be going as death well I found 1 in my size but it was not worth the 30.00 they wanted for it I mean granted I am gonna use it for a costume but ...Anyway I have a friend who has offered me her old gown my problem is it is SOOOO pretty I almost hate to dye it so I need your honest opinon I am attaching a picture of the gown my question to all of you is to dye or not to dye if yes would you add a veil and if so on the veil a short one or a long one

what are you options when you must have prescription eye glasses on at all times?

A nearsighted vampire. ghost, zombie etc. is just plane silly. What to dress as for Halloween that would incorporate eye glasses? Only thing I can think of is perhaps a Mad Doctor/scientist. Once tried glasses over a mask....foggy lenses....under mask....same trouble. Contacts....irritate eyes. So, what to do????? :( Suggestions PLEASE!
