I'm looking for an old retro Dr's labcoat; the long somewhat fitted style with the buttons that go diagonally across one shoulder. My idea is to do one of the doctor Splicers from Rapture's medical complex in Bioshock, and they wore those olde-tyme labcoats.

Does anyone know of one that's sold, or if there's a pattern for one? I'd love a pattern to make a custom job.

We had a lot of really good costumes at our party that didn't cost much and were thrown together in the week before Halloween so I thought I'd share for some inspiration! :)

Abby Sciuto from the show NCIS (She spent $10 on the wig and big cup, everything else I either made or it came out of my closet! And yes, she had a Caf Pow cup and platform boots.)

Queen Bee (She crocheted this in two days!)

Spookywood's Ivy Man/ Man Eating Plant

So, around Halloween time every year the Travel channel starts to air it's America Haunts and Halloween Haunts specials (all of which are amazing), and I was watching one of them with my little bro, and he saw the Ivy Man costume that Spookywoods designs and was amazed. He had wanted to be some sort of a swamp creature last year, but we never got around to it, so this year we thought why not?

Our original plan was to sew some pants and a shirt out of a dark green camo pattern we found at the fabric store, but we were very lucky to score a camo hoodie and pajama pants combo at the thrift store. Our plan was to use leaves from some fakes houseplants, hotglue them on, and then over top of that drape some seaweed type plants over to give the drippy swamp plant effect.

Four fake house plants and about six and a half hours of hot gluing later, we had our costume. It turned out really well in my opinion, luckily my bro was cool with accepting that it wouldnt look exactly like the original.

Attachment 8574 (http://www.halloweenforum.com/attachments/halloween-costume-ideas/8574-spookywoods-ivy-man-man-eating-plant-swamp-monster-standing-1.jpg)

Here he is crouching in my oversized flower pot (for my maneating flower costume) just like the guy in the original costume would do. I have to say, that if I were not expecting him to move, I would have been fooled myself.

Attachment 8576 (http://www.halloweenforum.com/attachments/halloween-costume-ideas/8576-spookywoods-ivy-man-man-eating-plant-swamp-monster-pot-2.jpg)

On Halloween he had his face painted dark green, which added nicely to it. Given more time we probably would have added a green mesh screen to cover the face. (He sort of looks like the Gordon's fisherman covered in seaweed!:D)

I'm going to be using a prosthetic from MostlyDead.com - quality Halloween haunt and stage supplies - MostlyDead.com (http://www.mostlydead.com) or a similar site. I'm looking for ideas as I plan on spending the entire year on it. I am going to be going all out. I'm thinking something like one of the lizard-type things.

Here is what I did this year, using a prosthetic. However I didn't really plan what to do with my body.

Attack of "The Birds" Costume

This is the costume I made for my 13 yr. old daughter this year. She wanted to be Tippi Hedren from Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" movie. She got the idea from the Barbie doll with the birds attacking her (she's never seen the movie).
I bought some large crows and then made some paper mache/wire wings for them. Then hot glued black feathers all over them. Did the same thing with some of the Dollar Tree crows. I used safety pins in the birds to pin them on the outfit. (Got the clothes at Goodwill.)
My big idea was to take one of those "Flapping bat" toys and turn it into an animated bird that would be attached to the hat on her head.
I cut the head off a Raven from Big Lots that had battery powered glowing red eyes. I was able to save the glowing eyes part, so those were on all the time. I attached that head to the bat and then glued feathers all over the bat wings (both sides).
Cut off the bat power switch and wired in a momentary push button switch with a long wire so she could trigger it from her pocket.
I'm happy it turned out as good as it did. It was the best costume I saw all night!

Clown Mask Help

I am looking to do a clown theme for part of my haunt next year as a couple of parents this year suggested we do something scarier next year, and we all know people hate clowns.

Does anyone have any links to websites that make good clown masks. i have seen the scream team one and all of the Killer Klowns but the killer klowns arent scary. I was thinking even i could go as KillJoy and the wife could be Pennywise, but need help locating masks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.
