2010 Haunted Ontario Calendar

So it's time to go through all your photos and send in your best shot (or 2) for the 2010 HAUNTED ONTARIO CALENDAR! It doesn't matter whether you think your haunt measures up or not - we want to see them all. Yard Haunt, Garage/Back Yard Walkthrough, Amateur & Professional Haunt, large or small it doesn't matter.

The calendar will be 8.5" x 11" when folded opening to 11" x 17", full colour, printed on good quality glossy paper and cover. Depending on cost it will either be saddle stitched (stapled) or ring bound. There will be a large area for photos at the top part of each month with plenty of space to write each day's appointments. I'm even thinking of putting in a Halloween countdown so we know exactly how many days it is until our favourite holiday rolls around again.

I'm going to try and keep the cost for each calendar in the $15-20 range plus shipping.

In order for me to gauge the response and figure out final printing numbers/calendar cost I will make the assumption that those submitting photos will want at least 1 copy of the finished calendar. If submissions are too low to either fill the calendar or justify printing costs I will be forced to unfortunately cancel the calendar so please send in those photos or indicate if you will be purchasing one (or many!)

I will to allocate some space each month for a small banner ad for those with a Halloween related business/professional Haunt that wish to advertise. The final size of the banner has yet to be determined but it should be around 1" x 4.5" for approx. $60. Please contact me if you would be interested in this option. You could supply your own ad to my specs or I could design something for you for a small fee.

Here are the Photo Submission Guidelines:

- Basically the largest shot your camera can do is best. Anything above a 3+ MegaPixel camera should be fine. Files should be, at minimum, over 1 MB filesize. If you aren't sure, send me the photo and I can tell you if it is acceptable or not.

- Images that have been saved for the web are generally too small to use. The larger or better quality photo you send the larger or more prominent I will use it (when possible).

- Send a maximum of 1-4 photos. I will choose the best depending on the calendar layout. Email me at halloween@hectorturner.com

- include with each photo your name, haunt name (if any) & location. For example mine would read:

Hector Turner
A Haunted Halloween at Blackstone Cemetery, Brampton

- also include "HAUNTED ONTARIO" in your subject line when you submit your photos so I can try and keep the spam filters from catching it. I will send out a confirmation once I have received your submission so if you don't hear anything back from me within a week, please try to contact me.

- I reserve the right to have final say as to which photos will and will not be included, however I will endeavour to include at least 1 photo from each person that submits their shots.

That's it for now, let's get those photos rolling in so I can get started. If everything goes according to plan I would hope to have the calendars ready to ship by the 1st week of January 2010. This promises to be a great showcase for all the haunting community that Ontario has to offer and a great way to keep the Halloween spirit all year long!

*Spirit Halloween Raises $1 Million to Bring Holiday Celebrations to Hospitalized Children
*

Spirit of Children Program Brings Halloween to
Hospital Child Life Departments Across the U.S. and Canada
*

NEW YORK, October 29, 2009 – Spirit Halloween, the country’s leading seasonal Halloween retailer, announced today that its 2009 Spirit of Children campaign has successfully raised a record-breaking one million dollars in customer, vendor and partner donations as well as merchandise contributions. One hundred percent of the money raised will go to improving the comfort and experience of pediatric patients through the purchase of items including books, computers, and entertainment centers, games specifically designed for children with physical challenges as well as toys that are fun, educational and therapeutic for hospital child life departments. This year, Spirit Halloween hosted Halloween parties for children at over 50 participating hospitals. Since its inception in 2006, Spirit of Children has raised more than $1.8 million for hospitals all across the United States and Canada.

“Spirit of Children is a way for Spirit Halloween to bring the fun and fantasy of Halloween to children who otherwise might not be able to enjoy the holiday,” said Steven Silverstein, Spirit Halloween President and CEO. “The positive response we receive from the hospitals and the excitement of the children this program touches is extremely meaningful for our organization, the hundreds of our employees who participate on their own time, and our customers who donate generously. We hope to continue to grow this initiative in the years to come.”

The Spirit of Children program has built significant momentum, receiving support from participating hospitals and Spirit employees in every region of the nation. The program has expanded its reach from 11 hospitals in its 2006 to 74 hospitals in 2009, including such leading medical institutions as Texas Children’s, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Maimonides Infants and Children’s Hospitals, Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA, Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital and Phoenix Children’s Hospital as well as ten Shriner’s Hospital for Children locations throughout the country.

“Thanks to the Spirit of Children program and generosity of the community, we’ve received more than $150,000 in the last two years,” said Jamie Byrd, Child Life Manager at Texas Children’s Hospital. “With this money, we’ve been able to greatly improve the Child Life facilities at Texas Children’s by adding a variety of amenities to improve the hospital stay for our young patients.”

The Spirit of Children program takes a three-pronged approach to providing holiday excitement and support for children during hospital stays. Volunteer Spirit employees bring Halloween celebrations to participating hospital child departments with costumes, pumpkin painting, costume parades, Halloween games and crafts, offering a temporary escape for the young patients, in hospitals across the United States and Canada. Additionally, the program raises needed funds through the generous donations of Spirit Halloween’s customers and partners as well as from the profits generated through the sale of exclusively designed eco-friendly trick-or-treat bags, available at all Spirit Halloween stores.

For a full list of participating hospitals and additional information regarding the Spirit of Children program, please visit www.spirithalloween.com/spiritofchildrenday/ .

Hi we will be having the best FREE haunted house in Georgia. Over the years I have been to several haunted houses in Georgia and found that Nethworld was the best and worth the money they charge. Netherworld has inspired me and this year I will get in the haunted house business with my own Haunt. It will be a truly awesome event with tons of special effects, and over the top pneumatic scares and many giant creatures up to 15 feet tall. The best part is, this year it is FREE to all as a preview for next year. It will only be open Oct. 24,30,31 From dusk till midnight. It is in Douglasville Georgia. I will post pics on my album very soon .I will try to respond to any questions you may have. You can mapquest it ------- 6195 JAYMA LANE DOUGLASVILLE GA 30135
