Again, I’m not sure where I ran across this particular mix of Halloween music, but it has proven to be one of my favorite mixes. Many of the songs are pretty typical … “Thriller”, “Psycho Killer”, “Monster Mash”, “The Timewarp”. Others are a little more unusual … “The Number of the Beast”, “Grimly Fiendish”, “Monster”. It’s a nice mix of the old and the new.

What makes it such a fun mix is the variety of sound clips thrown in there. “Thriller” starts off with clips from MJ’s classic. “Psycho Killer” is preceded by audio from the shower scene from “Psycho”. Instrumentals are sprinkled with clips from the Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror. There are plenty more really nice surprises in there at the beginning and end of songs. They do not interfere with the music. (See if you can catch the brief appearance from Frankie Goes to Hollywood!)

I’ve listened to dozens of mixes on the internet … alabamudclay, Vinnie Rattolle, Dan Augustine, and Dartman are all bloggers with really good mixes, and we can’t forget the two classic mixes from Jason at Scar Stuff. This Grandmaster mix, while it doesn’t feature many obscurities like many mixes out there, stands out thanks to its use of great sound clips.

There are plenty of places that share this CD – you should not have trouble finding it.
