Nightmarish Picture

As black fades to the brightest green
The hidden eyes emerge and gleam
A skeleton is then exposed
In fancy and well fitting clothes
The gates of pitchforks stand in back
They fade from gray to darkest black
It keeps the demons far away
It keeps the ghost at last at bay
The bats they fly into the sky
The pumpkins scream
Their dark eyes gleam
The spiders crawl
Up every wall
The skull stares down
It wears a frown
It all is captured in a frame
But there is not meant to remain


Attic Room

The attic lays above my room
It’s full of darkness full of gloom
In bed I hear the moans at night
The attic hasn’t seen the light
I went up once when I was five
And waited for the ghost to arrive
It never did but there I sat
Behind the boxes and coat rack
I waited days and nights too long
I lost all time once on my own
Then I tried to at last get out
But the door was locked and I couldn’t get down
I waited in anguish for someone to help
But no one seemed to hear me yell
Sooner or later I guess I just died
For now I’m transparent and it seems I can fly
I never can sleep and I never can breathe
I never can eat and I never can leave
I came in a human expecting a ghost
And I got what I wanted I guess, I suppose
