You might think about making a ghillie suit. Military snipers use 'em. Some of them just use pieces of plant-colored cloth sewn all over a jacket and pants. It breaks up the outline and, in the right surroundings, makes the wearer virtually indiscernable from the local plant life--even at very close range. Something like that making a move on you in the semidarkness would likely scare the hell out of you!
