Okay, looks like I'm going to have to buckle-down and make good on my brag. I may have to delay my 3-axis skull plans, but what the hell.

The idea is simple. Stationary rotating light-projecting gobos have one major flaw: anything that gets in their way (most importantly, the walkway itself) impedes on their performance. Also, we've got the problem of image warping, as the image of dots or other cut-outs will expand/contract in and out of focus, ruining the rotating effect. Much less the device being in full view, anyway.

Now, since there is going to be a walkway involved regardless of whether it's a whole rotating tunnel or an optical spinning effect, why not mount two tube-shaped rotating gobos on each side of the walkway (just under the framework, protruding on both sides) that are sychronized by a couple of belts? The only light you'll lose is directly above the patrons, which can be made to look like anything ( a ceiling, stalagtites, camo-net canopy, whatever). The only remaining concern would be the dimensions of the space (centered walkway/consistent distance of the walls from the gobos, relatively round shape, etc.)

This is probably hard to digest in written form, but I wanted to throw this idea out in case anyone else wants to run with it.

I'm on it guys.

New thread follows with progress...
